Sylvain began playing the piano at the age of 8. However, he chose to pursue studies in chemistry, which he completed in 1995. He then went on to work in England and Belgium for the Belgian company UCB Films. His encounter with Patricia Montero convinced him to apply for the entrance exam at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 2003, which he passed successfully. He earned his master’s degree in 2008 and his teaching certification (agrégation) with distinction in 2009.

Passionate about pedagogy, he began Suzuki teacher training in Brussels under the guidance of Anne-Marie Oberreit and obtained his Suzuki piano teacher diploma in 2013.

His meeting with the piano teacher trainer Caroline Fraser inspired him to continue exploring the richness of the Suzuki philosophy. Since then, he has regularly participated in Caroline’s masterclasses, invited her to teach Suzuki students in Brussels, and has continued to develop his pedagogical resources through workshops in Belgium and abroad.

Drawn to group teaching, he followed the Pre-Piano training developed by Blancamaria Montecinos and, since September 2024, has been offering pre-piano classes for children under the age of four to prepare them for their first individual piano lessons.

Sylvain is also a piano teacher and music history teacher at the music academies of Forest and Jette.
